TCGRx has developed a full suite of hospital pharmacy solutions that include unit dose packaging, meds to beds with barcoding for eMAR use, automation, high-density pharmacy fixtures, and inventory management. The highlight of TCGRx systems is the integration we provide with your existing pharmacy systems that is tailored to your needs and budget. TCGRx will consult with you on your goals and objectives, and our solutions can be scaled from simple packaging technology to enterprise-level perpetual inventory management. We provide the tools to make your pharmacy more efficient and reliable. TCGRx pharmacy automation equipment will help you reduce your risk of medication filling errors and increase pharmacy staff efficiency.

The benefits of automated pharmacy systems are substantial, as your pharmacy can automate the pill dispensing process to affordably stay competitive, all the while giving your patients great confidence in the service you are providing. In most hospitals, the pharmacy is located in the basement. With TCGRx, our products save space and don’t require special wiring, etc. In addition, they are on wheels and are mobile.

For the inpatient pharmacy, pre-packaging medications in unit dose pouches will allow you to barcode every dispensed medication. The Beacon® Inventory Management System is able to determine who dispensed the medication, when it was dispensed, and how much inventory is available. TCGRx workflow solutions allow multiple technicians to pick medication at the same time.

When we design an outpatient pharmacy, we integrate it with discharged patients in mind. The pharmacy can dispense adherence pouch packaging, which provides a better learning curve for the patients, and all of their prescriptions are detailed to help support at-home adherence, reducing their chances of being readmitted to the hospital. The pharmacist is able to meet with the patient before being discharged from the hospital and capture the first round of filling. Outpatient pharmacies that utilize our Beacon Inventory Management System can effectively provide outpatient pharmacy services in a very small amount of space.

How to identify the needs of your hospital pharmacy

No two hospital pharmacies are the same. TCGRx’s talented staff of pharmacy designers and engineers work with you to determine your needs, and analyze your space to define the appropriate products for your pharmacy. Our team of industry experts are with you every step of the process, from pre- to post-implementation process. TCGRx will take the time to learn your individual pharmacy needs, before delving into your customizeddesign.

Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy

1. The process begins with a consultation from our sales team.

Our hospital sales representatives work with the pharmacy director, or the pharmacist in charge, to identify the pharmacy’s needs and overall workflow. They discuss with you where you are having issues in filling scripts - is there enough space to have multiple pharmacy techs picking, are looking for automation equipment or workstations, and the best solution to maximize your footprint.

2. TCGRx workflow engineer is brought on to the project.

If workflow adjustments are needed, a certified TCGRx workflow engineer is brought on to the project. They will first evaluate your current workflow situation and make recommendations. If the hospital architectural plans are available, they will review and determine the best workflow solution to keep you within budget.

3. TCGRx will then provide you with a quote.

The hospital purchasing process can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years before it goes through the hospital channels for approval. Depending on your budget, your hospital pharmacy can buy a piece of equipment now and another piece next year. You may see processes have improved in your workflow, but you may also find things that still need to be improved upon. TCGRx can re-evaluate your pharmacy as you continue to purchase new equipment, ensuring you are maximizing the efficiency of your space and labor. One of the best aspects of working with TCGRx is everything that is mobile and on wheels, so it can be moved around if your design changes at a later date.

Outpatient Hospital Pharmacy

1. Meet with TCGRx Sales Team

TCGRx outside sales representatives will meet with you to discuss your outpatient pharmacy whether you are looking to build into an existing space, or a whole new pharmacy. They will discuss with you the number scripts per day your pharmacy manages, your budget, space allocation, and if you are looking for automation equipment or workstations, and the best solution to make the most of your footprint.

2. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, a TCGRx workflow engineer is brought on to the project.

If workflow adjustments are needed, a certified TCGRx workflow engineer is brought on to the project. If it is a new design, the workflow engineer will work with the hospital and the architect; on what electrical requirements will be needed, and what is in the space now. In some cases, this involves the hospital administration staff, TCGRx and the architect,  while in other cases, it may involve just the hospital pharmacy staff and TCGRx. If it is an existing space, the workflow engineer will work with you to save space for a packager to support a med sync program, or integrate vial filling automation and inventory management for easy reporting. The engineer will determine upfront what your objective is and make recommendations based on your business objectives.

3. TCGRx will provide a quote.

It is a quick process for TCGRx to identify your retail pharmacy needs. Depending on budget, your retail pharmacy can buy a piece of equipment now and another piece next year. You may see that things have improved in your workflow, but you may also find things that still need to be improved upon and TCGRx can reevaluate your retail pharmacy astime progresses. One of the best aspects of working with TCGRx is that everything is mobile and on wheels so it can be moved around if your design changes at a later date.
